John Romano took the stage to interview legendary Miami Dolphins quarterback and Hall of Famer Dan Marino on Monday, January 31st at the National Trial Lawyers Summit. John brought his unique perspective on law and football in an entertaining hour-long conversation of topics ranging from Ace Ventura (and the importance of keeping the laces out) to his relationship with Don Shula. In between, they discussed the highs and lows of Marino’s 17 seasons in the NFL. He talked about one of his greatest triumphs, the 1985 Monday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears. In maybe the most memorable Monday Night Football game in NFL history, the Miami Dolphins beat the then-unbeaten Chicago Bears 38-24 on Monday Night Football. It would be the only loss the Bears had in the 1985 season. Dan Marino was 14 for 27 for 270 yards and three touchdowns. As you might imagine, Marino’s greatest disappointment is losing the Superbowl the prior season to the San Fransisco 49ers.
The interview took place as part of the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame luncheon and included an awards presentation for:
- Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyer of the Year
- Criminal Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year
- Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame Legacy Inductee: Paul J. Hanly Jr.
Known for its unique gathering of America’s most outstanding civil plaintiff and criminal defense lawyers, the Trial Lawyers Summit provides attorneys with various networking opportunities and informative sessions for the chance to improve their trial and business management skills.
